Thinking and Learning on Environmental Themes
The AEON Cheers Club is for children from first grade of elementary school to third grade of junior high school, who take part in environmental learning and hands-on activities based at 448 locations nationwide. The club was started in 1996, initially inspired by the commencement of the Foundation’s support for the Junior Eco Club, a project of the Ministry of the Environment. The AEON Cheers Club provides a setting for children to learn about rules and manners through group activities, while cultivating their interest, awareness and ability to think about the environment. In fiscal year 2018, the club carried out activities on the theme of Energy, as well as expanding the AEON Cheers Club Farmer’s Program, in which participants learn about agriculture. Club members study agriculture in a comprehensive way, with activities that incorporate learning about the structures of plants and field management, in addition to hands-on crop harvesting.
