In the activities with the local children, we got to see their big smiles over and over. The children looked really happy as they sang, drew cartoons, and played football. This event made me think about the contrast between the Laotian children with their big smiles, happy from the bottom of their hearts even though they lack sufficient food and clothing, and Japanese children who live comfortably but are still unhappy for some reason. It made me think again about the meaning of happiness and wealth. (A participant)
